September News From The Advocate
Late Summer Menu Highlights
California boasts a remarkable array of produce year round, but late summer is undoubtedly its finest hour. For chef Dan Hanken, who took over the helm in early July, this means tomatoes, melons, squashes, wax beans, corn and more tomatoes in exciting new dishes like our Heirloom Tomato and Melon Salad, Grilled Summer Squash with corn, cannellini beans, harissa and couscous and Wild Gulf Shrimp Risotto with cherry tomatoes, yellow wax beans, Calabrian chilies.

Other notable additions to the menu include Fried Wax Beans with tahini, Blistered Shishito Peppers, a Chicory Caesar, Maitake Mushroom Toast and Radiatore with house-made fennel sausage. We also just added a Chocolate Terrine to our dessert menu and each night features an evolving selection of house-made ice creams and sorbets.

Short Run Cocktails
In addition to our ever-changing list of house cocktails, bar manager Matthew Campbell has lately been dropping some small batch cocktails on the menu of the “while they last” variety…
Golden Mary St. George green chili vodka, Suze, heirloom tomato, coriander, Morita chile
Recent examples include Wright’s Whiskey Punch (named after the our building’s longtime tenant Wright’s Auto Body - see blog piece here) and the Golden Mary, a subtler sister to the Advo Bloody (still on the menu!).
